Over the past few weeks, we’ve worked on arcade controllers. I was behind for a few classes since I missed a few, but it was easy to catch up. Building it was challenging but seeing it actually work was really cool. The biggest challenge I faced was connecting the controller to the PI. This was challenging because I didn’t have some of the materials, but once I got them I understood how to connect everything. Another challenge I faced was when the wires fell out. In the picture, you can see the buttons and where the wires are connected. They fell out because I didn’t apply enough force while connecting them to the buttons. It was really simple to fix this and everything worked perfectly once I fixed these few things.

For the maze game, I created a Harry Potter-themed game. I based this game off of the book Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. I created a game where you have to complete the tasks that Harry has to complete from the books. At first, I was going to make a quidditch themed game but I couldn’t really come up with anything that a player would need to complete other than win a game. I’m not the best at coding so I faced a lot of challenges throughout this project. The two biggest challenges were putting everything together in the end and making sure it works. I also lost a lot of my progress because I has issues with my computer. I was finished with the first two tasks and then my computer got completely refreshed and I lost the second task.

For this project, I made a shark chasing a fish. I changed the two characters and the background to make it look like the ocean.However the biggest change I made to the game was the timer. I thought that refreshing after 10 seconds was way too easy and it really only tests your time and how bored you are. At first, I changed it to a 5 second timer but again, it was too easy and boring. So I changed it to a countdown. When you play the game, you are given 60 seconds to get as many fish as you can. I think that this game is more fun than before because it’s harder to beat your high score.

I am Hannah and I’ve been going to school at Quest since 6th grade. Outside of school, I really like music. I play guitar, piano, ukulele, and I can play a little bass and banjo. I also sing and write songs. My favorite singer/songwriters are Taylor Swift and One Direction (including their solo songs). They are also my idols and I look up to them because they’re super nice and talented. My favorite movies are The Hunger Games (and the books) and A Star is Born. I love reading and one of my favorite book series is Stalking Jack The Ripper (quite gruesome though). I LOVE the Harry Potter books and movies too. I’m a fan of the Patriots and I’m a feminist. I used to live in Switzerland and I want to move back to Europe, probably to London. I want to move there because I loved Europe when I lived there and so I want to live there again. It’s also really pretty. My favorite musical is Grease and my favorite TV show is Brooklyn 99. And lastly, I am a Slytherin (yes, I took the official test).
